Final Day Sunday at Masters
Every player arrives at Augusta in awe. Its now our turn to see what they experience on arrival each year at The Masters.
The forecast chilly weather fortunately stayed away and we were met by warm weather and very little wind - meaning Augusta was there for scoring, though the greens were fast and the fairways were playing firm.
Rors got the crowd going right from the 1st hole. He started making putts, chip-in on 10, he had a herculean eagle on 13 then holed out for birdie on 18 from the sand. An insane 64, best of the week, bogey-free for Rors.
Cambo got things going early with the ideal start of birdie birdie. From nowhere he then dropped shots on 3 and 4. He had lost his mojo.
He had a few other potential turning points like when he missed the par saver on 10 after a brilliant recovery, then the clutch birdie on 11 before he dunked his tee ball into Rae’s Creek on 12. He battled hard all week and you could see the stress come out in his reactions down the back 9.
Throughout the Final Day, Scottie was unflappable and held firm. He was under the pump from the start with his drive leaking, but each time his wedge got him home, eventually getting a chip-in of his own on the third.
His round then developed a consistency and this allowed him to build up a 5 shot lead when he arrived at the 11th hole. Cambo rolled in a birdie and once again Scottie answered with an up and down par. He just kept going, focussed on his own game.
To win your first major is special, to do it with a 4-putt just shows his superiority over the field, with his world no 1 spot firmly locked in.
Round of the Day
There were lots of birdies and eagles on the Final Day. Players enjoyed the feast after the difficulties on Moving Day.
Rors’ 64 had everything: tap-ins, big breakers, chip-ins and an eagle.
Collin did his best to match Rors’, including halved holes with eagles and birdie hole outs!
Shot of the Day
The pressure of the lead was weighing heavy on Scottie standing over his chip on 3 and then proceeded to change his momentum with this chip-in.
Rors had a few so enjoy this eagle on 13.
The Leaders
An impressive front page for Augusta with Conners, Sungjae, Zala and JT adding to their lists of Masters top 10s.
The Chasers
The top 12s and ties managed to lock their tickets into next year’s Masters so spare a thought for Higgs, Westie and Lee who narrowly miss out.
Overall - what a Masters and welcome to a new superstar, 25 years old, world no 1, 4 time winner now and with his first major with many more to come.

Final Day Sunday was filled with so many storylines, with various charges coming across the course. Scottie’s 4 putt would have hurt too.
Bradthig7 held firm throughout and had a sizable lead building until JT crumbled around Amen Corner before a further late rally got them home.
Fitzmagic and Burry Can Do it battled hard all weekend, but could not keep their momentum down the stretch.
