2022 Open Championship: St Andrews is ready. Lets Play

With less than 24 hours to go before the first tee time of The Open, we are way too excited, St Andrew’s is looking way too firm and the wind has been blowing and blowing. Indications are that the wind will drop and then gust back come the weekend.



Players are prepped and like us, eager to get things cracking on The Old Course. That first tee shot belongs to the 2009 Champion Golfer, Lawrie who will get us going at 6:35am local time, Thursday morning.



The Open has a few spots for amateurs, a few spots for past Champions and then so many qualifiers from around the globe. Some sage advice to ease the butterflies: get your head clear, swing easy on the 1st and make those PICKS!

The real interest is on the business end of the board - with all the big names fighting for the limelight to be the 150th Champion Golfer of the Year at the Old Course.

The favourites are set: Rory, JT, Rahmbo & Jordan. Pick a name and take a number. All of these are capable of taking it down the stretch and picking up another major.



Xander will be one of those seeking major number one - and someone who has knocked on the door a few times. Winning at St Andrew’s would take away all the pain he has experienced in chasing his first major.

YOUR PICKS
Prep time was hopefully put to good use, but now is the time to commit, visualise and execute. Make those PICKS!

Top Bucket: It’s so tight at the top outside of the number 1, who has cooled down recently. The course is so unique as is a Links test. Make this pick count as it’ll be crucial! Can Collin defend or is it Rahmbo who is going to land the Spanish Seve repeat?

2nd Bucket: this might be key for the overall picks and such an array of talent. Again some experience will be a factor Jordan, Lowry, Hideki & Louis have all enjoyed success at The Old Course. Zala is another who cannot stay away - with a string of podium finishes in majors. Hold my beer.



3rd Bucket: 2 picks from this group… look deep for the sleeper. Some Links experience? Scotty. Some recent form? Some of the Seniors might fit the bill here like Tiger, Ernie & Padraig?



With all this in mind, it's time to focus on your PICKS so make a plan.
