The 2024 major season is upon us, kicking off with our usual opening gambit at Augusta for The Masters, and the sense of excitement for the year’s first major is palatable. The defending champion is a LIV converted, with the field fairly spread between the various international tours including some interesting invitations to global superstars., who are scattered across the RANKINGS.
No time for a long preview mail? Just head over to get your PICKS in!
Augusta will be roaring, just like last year when Rahmbo & BK toiled it out in heavy winds, rain, shine and a long final day!
This year, weather forecasts are for warmer weather as the week progresses but Thursday will be wet and windy it appears.
Keep an eye open for the majorpunter changes introduced earlier this year, with a no-subs option, adding a 6th pick and the addition of another wildcard. See the updated RULES on the site, which also include a no-sympathy approach to players withdrawing once the first tee shot has gone off.
The Headliners:
With the tour splits, it’s a tough prediction. The favourite is Scottie who is in red hot form and surely he is due with his new found success on the greens?
The list of potential winners this year seems lengthy with decent form on various tours, which is refreshing. Scottie, Rory & Rahmbo based on the world rankings, which are skewed, are hot on everyone’s lists. But will Rory just disappoint again? BK is heading to Augusta with a new putter is an interesting call, but should still contend.
Then the band of youngsters chasing a 1st major or a 2nd is the best list. So much talent in the mix! Cambo, X, The Hov, Wyndie, aberg!, Fitzy, Other Cam, Mr Burns, TKim, Jaco - just awesome talent to pick from and would be great to see one of them make the step up at Augusta!
Obviously a few others amongst the chasers who are well known, but have struggled to break through in the big majors. Tough to keep backing the likes of Cant(p)lay, Xander & Homa.
The Defending Champ:
Rahmbo has made significant waves in the golfing world since the start of the year but will arrive at Augusta with a sense of mental focus like every year before, even though his golf might not have been in the same spotlight compared to others on the PGA or DP World Tours.
Champions Dinner Plans:
This year’s Champions Dinner is sure to be a classic Spanish Tapas affair with Rahmbo spreading the Spanish flair and flag. An interesting feature of the Dinner is that the Champion will pay, but hardly a bank breaker.
More importantly, can Rahmbo come back and defend the Jacket? So many have tried and few have succeeded at defending.
The Field:
As usual the FIELD is filled with a variety of contenders and no-hopers. This year’s field does include The Big Cat for time will tell whether he is able to tee it up come Thursday.

The Masters:
The kings of content, The Masters have again outdone themselves with their latest promo “Spring is in the air”.
Looking to brush up on interesting facts ahead of the Masters check these FIRSTS out.
Great stories about the first hole in one or even the miserable Augusta record of former champ, Sandy Lyle.
The Course, Traditions and Surrounds:
The players, the Patrons and ourselves, all know Augusta and its humps, hollows, speedy greens and sloping fairways very well. However, its traditions are also extended and vast, with no stone unturned or even new stones added in.
Augusta National has created a new 2nd tee to a formidable par 5, plus other tweaks here and there.
Otherwise, as we know, the course and surrounds will be perfect - a mix of green, pink and white will be in abundance!
From the umbrellas to food wrapping, the shops, caddies overalls and obviously the various buildings scattered around the course.
Famous establishments like Butler Cabin, Crow’s Nest, The Wine Cellar, Champions Locker Room, Founders Circle, Berckmans Place, Clubhouse Terrace and Eisenhower Cabin are places most of us just dream about. These buildings that surround the course have stayed much the same over years, adding to the old world charm of Augusta.
Enjoy the TOUR of Augusta National.
Potential Favourites:
Scottie
The world # 1, with new putter in hand and a few wins under his belt in 2024, will be determined to add to his lone major win of 2022.
Rory
Another stab at the Grand Slam, its been too many to count. At least this year, he is under the radar and seemingly a yard short of his usual form. He won’t mind missing the spotlight a little.
Rahmbo
Defending champ, decent form, seems refreshed and relaxed post his LIV decision. Looks keen for the major season to begin and get back to a big win!
The Others:
The list of possible first timers is long and impossible to ignore these guys.
Cambo: Looks made for Augusta and makes golf look easy with his relaxed demeanour.
The Hov: Competed in a few majors this past year, unlucky not to get it done. Looks set for a win soon!
Other Cam: Hard to imagine that he is still chasing a win of any sorts. Seems to be putting better this year.
As a reminder, keep an eye open for majorpunter changes, with us implementing a no-subs option, adding a 6th pick and the addition of another wildcard. See the updated RULES on the site, which also include a no-sympathy approach to players withdrawing once the first tee shot has gone off.
