No time for a long preview mail? Just head over to get your PICKS in!
Weather FORECAST is looking like a delightful mix of warmth and sunny skies. There might be some rain, but much less than initially expected, although Monday’s practice round became a wash-out!
Reminder of the majorpunter rules, with a no-subs option, but having 6 picks including 2 wildcards. See the RULES on the site, which also include a no-sympathy approach to players withdrawing once the first tee shot has gone off.
The concession stands are going to be booming, after all its The Masters and its sure to be a classic! But of course, the patrons need to be fed and The Masters will provide.
The Masters this year seems to be wide open. There has been great play across the board (PGA, LIV, Europe and even Africa) and yet Scottie is still top of the roost, heading the list of the latest Big 3. Its tough to be pick apart the trio of Scottie, Rory & X, even with the 2-major-man battling back from injury.
That means we are ignoring the claims of Rahmbo & BDC and so many others, which is a mistake.
Its going to come down to small details, how they manage their games around tricky scenarios and preparation this week is a confirmation of the countless games they have played at Augusta before this.
Stat Attack
13 of the last 13 winners at The Masters had gained at least 18 shots Tee to Green in their 4 events before their win.
Of those that fit the bill and leading the line: Scottie, Corey, Collin, Shane, Spaun & Rory are the top 6.
Augusta is all about memories, winning on debut is very rare. There are a few perennial contenders at Augusta who fancy going all the way every time they tee it up here, with countless near misses for JRose, Lowry & Conners in recent times.
Scottie if he defends, joins a very elite list of 3 others only Tiger, Jack & Sir Nick who have done this.
Then the big discussion of Rory to complete the Grand Slam, with so much soul and purpose this year, its all gone so badly at times in the past, could he finally break his major hoodoo from 2014!
majorpunter Favorites
Picking a winner is always tough for an event of such immense importance and pressure. Players face so much more than just a physical and technical test.
For Augusta, much is made of trends, with the course repeating year on year - though many who should have been destined to win, don’t.
Big 3: are on everyone’s lips. Always hard to look beyond them and specifically the world no 1, but the Grand Slam story is sensational and too hard to ignore. Rory is on the march!
Shane: Superb form in 2024, great iron play and he has been good at Augusta since 2020, without being in the mix for any long stretch, but that can change in a heart beat.
Collin: Great run at Augusta, 3 straight top 10s and great runs in majors generally. He has fought hard to get back to this and he seems like a solid pick again.
Aberg: From nowhere to somewhere quickly, now on the hunt for his 1st major, could he contend again?
The Challengers
The DATA GOLF RANKINGS have a few surprises, but Scottie does keep ranking at the top.
The top 10 is littered with top, high performing talent: Scottie, Rory, Collin, Rahmbo, JT, X & BDC are all multiple major winners. Thats 7 of them! Thats a ton of pedigree and form to boot.
And what of the rest? There are the obvious, perennial Augusta favourites and it’s also hard to discount proven performers like Tommy, Jaco & The MadHatter, who all have had big moments at Augusta (from wins to top 10s).
Finally, what of the sleeper picks?
Conners has good data this year and is always in and around a Masters leaderboard.
Sergio also has a great record at Augusta, including that win in 2017. Coupled that with good form in 2025 and he will be a threat!
Some featured top 10s last year at Augusta for Scottie, Aberg, Homa, Collin, Tommy, Cambo, X & MadHatter which is a check box for future success.
Sneak an in-depth analysis of the top candidates from CBS GOLF and GOLF DIGEST.
If you are still struggling, sneak a look at the leaderboard of the 2023 Masters or the 2024 Masters leaderboards.

Your Picks

The Buckets
The Top bucket: The Big 3, loaded up, plus major-winners aplenty. Lots on 2 majors and 1 is chasing the Grand Slam. Just sensational.
The 2nd bucket: A tricky pick, with a mix of LIVE, Europe and PGA, including plenty of winners, seeking their 1st major like Jaco, Tommy & Corey. You will have a few major winners in the mix, but more interesting might be the red-hot Lefty from Scotland, who has shown he can play Augusta. Bobby Mac won’t stand back for anyone.
The 3rd Bucket: Now time for 2 picks, including the latest top 10 OWGR player, Mav McNealy, who somehow snuck in. This might be a tough pick and could seperate the chasers with the leaders.
The Bottom Bucket: Another 2 picks, another challenge ahead with a plethora of previous Masters winners and recent winners on the various tours too. Nice finishes headed into Augusta from Charl & Serg in Miami, while Jordan steadied his ship with a top 20 in Texas.
