2025 PGA Championship: Time for the last 9 holes

Posted on May 14, 2025 alt_text

Time for the 2nd major of the year. Welcome to the 2025 PGA Champs at Quail Hollow.

Don’t panic and get on with those PICKS.

With just over 24 hours to go before the first tee time of the major, the course has been drenched, but the sub-air system is humming to give the course some teeth in firm and fast greens. The rough is up, the course is going to play long and the crowds will be flocking in!

We know the players are prepped and like us, eager to get things cracking on Quail Hollow in the hunt for the Wanamaker or for Jordan, another crack at The Grand Slam which has proved elusive 10 times before!

The first tee shot belongs to a trio of world class champions in Loooooooooook, Paddy & Marty K, 2 of which are former world number 1’s and of course 2 are former winners of the Wanamaker itself, not to mention all are Ryder cup legends! They will lead us off at 7:00am local time.

PGA Champs Pairings
The Tee times were released earlier today and there are some absolute crackers to get us going and what a lead pairing this is, drum roll please.
The Big Boys: Rory, X, Scottie
Wow! This should be sensational.

Then the rest so to speak:
2 times Major champs: JT, DJ, Collin
Grand Slam Chaser: Jordan, The Feed and Aberg
US Open Champs: The Bulk, GaryDoubleU
Major Champs: JRose, Cambo, Harmie
There are a few other fun pairings with a mix of mini battles scattered throughout, plus the past champions and a few club pro’s to keep the action rolling!

Your Picks
Prep time was hopefully put to good use, but now is the time to commit, visualise and execute. Make those PICKS.

Top Bucket: The top 10 is generally tight and this is certainly one of those, many have won in 2025 already, but certainly some have better records in majors than others. Others have less decorated major records, but are in purely based on hot recent form, like Tommy Lad and Jaco who are chasing their 1st major. You can’t waste this pick and most won’t take a risk on a Cant(p)lay, who surely is chewing off his buddy's X's ear for some major tips!

2nd Bucket: Have to like chances of the in-form ball-striking Straka or the sweet smiling (and swinging) Swede, who might be a perfect fit for a long and challenging Quail Hollow.

3rd Bucket: A tougher batch, needing to find 2 in here. It could be any of them or it could be none. Some emotional money on Jordan for sure, it would be a great week if he was victorious! Smarter money might be on JDay with a side bet on a streaky player like Spaun to really throw the cat amongst the pigeons.

Bottom Bucket: Pick your poison, calling all pockets, all options are open. Go for a bomber, these long par 4’s are really long! Cambo or BK of LIV fame? Maybe little known McKibbin, who is highly regarded in Irish golf? Or a lefty to take on Quail’s right-hander-draw bias preference like Bubba did at Augusta?

With all this in mind, it's time to focus on your PICKS.
