It’s Spring time, the 2nd weekend of April. Welcome to Wednesday at The Masters.
With around 24 hours to go before the first tee time of The Masters, the course is in fine shape and the weather is perfect. We know the players are prepped and like us, eager to get things cracking on Augusta National, in all her fine colour and glory.
Don’t panic and get on with those PICKS.
The first tee shot belongs to John Keefer & Haotong Li who would not have expected to be playing here 12 months ago. They will lead us off at 7:40am local time.
The Champions Dinner hosted by Rory was reported as a success - a food extravaganza as you would expect, with the champ getting into the kitchen to assist in the chaos.
The most exclusive party and group, who will break into this club in 2026? Or will it be a returning champion who will prevail?
The Amateurs also enjoyed their own special dinner on the Monday evening and for this year’s inhabitants at The Crow's Nest, its just another part of the magical week. But how’s the story of the oldest amateur, the winner of the US Mid-Am, who has been a patron at Augusta for the previous 20 years, Brandon Holtz makes his debut and will have his dad on the bag, with a single goal, making the CUT!
Your Picks
Prep time was hopefully put to good use, but now is the time to commit, visualise and execute. Make those PICKS.
Top Bucket: The top 10 is generally tight and the defending champ has such a bad record at Augusta, with only 3 players able to defend over 89 previous Masters editions. It’ll be exciting to see a slugfest between some of these top dogs. Can Rory defend, to match Tiger, Jack and Sir Nick? Maybe, Yes sir.
2nd Bucket: Have to like chances of the in-form BDC in the pot, otherwise backing a rookie or a new potential?
3rd Bucket: Some with a lack of form and touch, or others like Scotty & Jordan who are former champions. Of course, there are plenty of major winners too - JDay, JT, JR, Lowry, JJ who are each capable and more.
Bottom Bucket: Some interesting options. Obviously The Feed is a real contender, always, having finished 3rd last year. But also lots of value avail for deeper down with some prior success at Augusta for DJ, BK, Serg & Cambo who also carry some form too.
With all this in mind, it's time to focus on your PICKS.
If you are still struggling, sneak a look at the leaderboard of the 2024 Masters or the 2025 Masters leaderboards.
Take on your mates
Time to get stuck into your majorpunter PICKS. As always, the more the merrier so send this on to the other golf fans in your life to get them involved and swell the winner's purse!
Remember we have Side Pots for punters to directly compete with each other’s friends, families, colleagues, local clubs, whatever you feel necessary. Give it a try and maybe get some side wagers going!
LIVE SCORING will be up and running on the site for all punters to see where they stand in real time. We are constantly looking to improve so keep us updated on some new trends that we might have missed.
Reminder of the majorpunter rules, with a no-subs option, but having 6 picks including 2 wildcards. See the RULES on the site, which also include a no-sympathy approach to players withdrawing once the first tee shot has gone off.
Here’s looking forward to an action-packed Masters, with lots of trials and tribulations, joy and despair, come wind, rain or shine.
Remember to ensure your teams are entered and paid before the first tee off time wherever you might be around the globe.
