The conditions at Augusta National were superb - a bluebird day, with a tricky breeze, that made scoring tougher than normal. Thats true, unless your name is JRose.

Day 1 of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National concluded with JRose leading the field after an impressive round. JRose carded a 65, marking his fifth time leading after the first round at the Masters, a tournament record.

His round included eight birdies and one bogey, showcasing his precision and experience on the course. This performance positions JRose as a strong contender for his first green jacket.

Defending champion Scottie also had a strong start, finishing the day tied for second with a four-under-par 68. His round was highlighted by some long putts, keeping him within striking distance of the lead. Could he defend? He has the made the perfect start to do so!

The tournament began with ceremonial tee shots from legends Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, & Tom Watson, honoring the tradition of The Masters.

There was more to it than the golf. The fairways were lined with patrons, scoffing a Pimento cheese sandwich, sinking beers in their famous green mugs and having a generally stellar time.

Any patron is lucky to have a sniff of a badge and its pleasing to see the general good times and celebrations from them all with their famous green chairs charting their own spaces.

majorpunter Picks

Top Bucket:
Rory & Scottie dominated the picks with Collin also highly favoured. Rory might be an emotional pick, but seeing a Grand Slam would be special. He looked so good for so long, till a nightmare on 15, chipping from behind the green into the water.

2nd Bucket:
Aberg was the fan’s favourite here and delivered on back 9 to post 68. Jaco was also popular and posted Even par.

Corey is a ball striking machine and a fan favourite too. He finished strong with 3 birdies in the last 4 holes for his 68.

3rd Bucket:
BK & The Hov were popular picks here for punters, with The Hov rewarding that faith late in the day, carding a 71.

Bottom Bucket:
Jordan & Cambo were popular amongst the bottom crew and both had ding dong days before Cambo finished strong for his 71, while Jordan faltered, posting 73.

Day 1 is all about keeping yourself in it and not getting too excited in the chase for your first major. There were some good scores for the punters and plenty of scores under par on the LEADERBOARD.

Fitzmagic2 leads by 1 over Golf Cartel who have opened up a small-ish lead at the top of the leaderboard.

Chasing is Bradthig2 & Foredy who will be hoping for a Friday charge on their round 1 numbers.

It’s a very tight leaderboard so anything can happen on Friday.

CD & GOOFY GOLFERS are sitting at the bottom, slightly ahead of PokeyAU6 & Henri’s Heroes, who are all fuming after a hard and tricky day.

It’s a long road to go and with changing weather in the mix, some players might benefit from a softer course on Friday. With major champions in your team, we know they can flip the switch and turn it around.
