Friday at The Open
Check out the majorpunter score's at The Open.
Links golf has a great way of giving and taking in equal measure, with the course changing dramatically as the sun swaps to rain and the wind gusts and switches. Royal Portrush showed herself at her dramatic best when all seasons came through.
Scottie leads by 1 after an imposing 64, inches of matching the course record. He never looked out of sync at any point, putted superbly after hitting 15 greens in regulation. A masterclass.
There were many good scores over the course of the day, with the lead bunching up at 8 under for a period before Fitzy threatened double digits, only to be overtaken by Scottie after 2 fantastic days of Links golf.
Round of the Day
A bogey free 65 from 2023 Champion Harmie was sensational. It was a round of redemption after really struggling since that major win at Royal Liverpool.
Last week’s Scottish champ Gotterup had snuck it with his 2 eagle 65, only to be outdone by a charging Scottie who was within a whisker of a 63!
Shot of the Day
Calamity Corner has so much misery with a pin on the right, but today’s pin on the left was more accessible and Corey took dead-aim, nearly holing out for a significant ace, but settled for a TAP-IN birdie instead.
Performance of the Day
Going into Friday BDC had zero confidence on a Links and was miles behind the cutline. He needed a late flurry on the back 9, birdies on 4 of the last 7 to sign for a 65 to just within the cutline with the finest of margins.
The Leaders
The Chasers
The Movers
It's Moving Day up ahead and the weather will play a crucial part, with rain and gusts expected, but no one knows when. Either way, it will be exciting!
Perhaps a few of those who just snuck in around the cutline will get early starts and and perhaps an early charge at Royal Portrush. Open Champions Jordan & Lefty are both at Even par, looking to make a charge so perhaps we can expect fireworks from this duo. Incidentally this is Lefty's 103rd CUT made at majors, 2nd on the all-time list.
Taking the weekend off
The Cutline looks likely to fall at 1 over and there are plenty of big names not around for weekend. Scotty, Cambo, BK, The Feed, Collin, Louis & Cant(p)lay are all short of the number.

36 holes to go, Royal Portrush will be an exciting place over the weekend for what remains, definitely a mix of doubles and eagles!
