Day 2 at the 2025 US Open

Posted on June 14, 2025 alt_text

Friday at The US Open

Oakmont showed some serious teeth in a Friday to remember. The round is not quite finished, but many of the best pro’s are shaking in their boots after being shown the door. Its Major Time. Burns stepped up, posting low round of the day, thanks to a very hot putter.
US Open D2P1
Burns leads by 1 after an imposing 65, with Spaun & The Hoov the only others who are under par.

We still have a few players to finish their 2nd rounds, but thats more a battle at the bottom than the top.

Round of the Day
It was a hard day, but we did have 7 players with scores in the 60s. 65 by Burns was phenomenal considering the scenes of carnage. The 67 from JDay needing to make the cut was equally good, especially since this happened after he intentionally bent his putter!
US Open D2P2
Shot of the Day
Hard to call this one, so many that never went close to the location was intended. It became a blur or a mess of sand, sand, sand.
US Open D2P3
Performance of the Day
A few players will be proud of turning day 1 76s into red scores, but Burns did it, took the lead and held firm.

The Movers
It's Moving Day up ahead and the conditions are expected to remain very challenging, though plenty of overnight rain, might give some players a better chance, with the course slowing down to a degree.

A few of those who just snuck in around the cutline will get early starts and and perhaps an early charge at Oakmonth. X & Rory are both amongst those who snuck in so perhaps we can expect fireworks from this duo.
US Open D2P5

Taking the weekend off
The Cutline looks likely to fall at 7 over and there are plenty of big names not around for weekend. JT, Aberg, Windie, Cant(p)lay, Cambo, Lefty, BDC are all short of the number.
US Open D2P6

Reminder of the Stats
Bucket 1: Scottie 58%, Bulk 14%, Rahmbo 9% & Rory 7% (none are under par)
Bucket 2: Aberg 24%, Lowry 20%, Cantlay 11% & Griffin 10% (none are under par)
Bucket 3: Hov 19%, Harris 17%, Jordan 15% & Si-Woo 7% (1 is under par)
Bucket 4: Fitzy 12%, JRose 10%, Other Cam 9% & Foxy 9% (none are under par)

Thats some really bad picking!

There were very few low scores for the punters and it’ll be a guessing game to see which of your stars have been made the CUT, but the misery is contained on the LEADERBOARD.

Blokkies stole a march on the challengers, opening up a 2 shot lead over Golf Cartel, heading into the weekend.

There are a stash of chasers at 2 over and with a little more than 2 rounds to go, this is anyone’s to win.

Moving day will not be a normal scoring day, a grind lies ahead. Its still anyone’s major, much angst remains for the leaders so strap in. The chase is on.

The bottomboard is a mess, so many teams only have 1 player left!

Bradthig6 is sitting dead last by 1 shot headed into Moving Day.

36 holes to go, Oakmont will be an exciting place over the weekend for what remains, definitely more doubles than eagles but exciting nonetheless.
