Day 2 at the 2026 Masters

Posted on April 11, 2026 alt_text

Friday at The Masters
Augusta was showing off this Friday - the course looked great, flowers were blooming and there was no give or favour for any golfers. Regular visits to the sand or water were the norm.

Check out the majorpunter score's at The Masters.
Masters26 D2P1

Rory leads by a record margin of 6 after an imperious 65 - making 6 birdies in his final 7 holes. What is scary is that he could claim he left a few out there on the front 9! A masterclass.

Other players thought they were making a charge, inroads into the lead, with many good scores to bask over: 66 by the Madhatter who hit all 18 greens; TommyLad & Wyndie with 68s; JR, Shane, The Feed, Li, BK and a few others all posting 69s. So there is plenty of form heading into the weekend.

Round of the Day
A near-bogey free 66 (hurt by the 3-putt at the last) from the Madhatter puts him right in the mix heading into the weekend. He’s been here before - can he make it count this time?
Masters26 D2P2
But how do you beat a Masters leading 65 by the defending champion? A second nine that was both spectacular and calm and a record 36 hole lead of 6 shots! He stands on the edge of immortality, trying to join a small group of back-to-back winners of the green jacket (plus plenty of other accolades).

Shot of the Day
The players threw darts at both 12 and 16 all day. Li came closest to an ace on 16, but his CHIP on 15 stole the show. Just supreme touch, in the middle of a birdie tear, taking him to the top 10, heading into the weekend.

Performance of the Day
Going into Friday Cantplay was staring an MC down the barrel - but he posted a HIGHLIGHT filled bogey free 67 in the 2nd round, to make the cut, after his opening 77!

The Movers
It's Moving Day up ahead, the weather is expected to be clear and warm - its all up to the members if they are going to suck the air from the greens, making them firm and crusty to really test these pros. No matter what, it will be exciting!

Perhaps a few of those who just snuck in around the cutline will get early starts and and perhaps an early charge at Augusta. Who can make a charge early, perhaps Cantplay who stormed into form!

Taking the weekend off
The Cutline looks likely to fall at 5 over and there are plenty of big names not around for weekend. JJ, Bobby Mac, BDC & Cambo plus a few other former champs.

BDC was especially big considering his favourite tag status after seemingly turning an Augusta corner in 2024 & 2025, but instead triples from 2 bunkers on 11 and 18 were his demise.
