Final Day Sunday at The PGA Champs
Sunday was a much easier cruise than Saturday for all the players, no more mud balls, no more cross-winds and of course sitting on a 54 hole lead, is a mere stepping stone for the formalities to proceed for Scottie, the new PGA Champ.
Every major champion seems perfect, but Scottie is far from this. Putting in significant work, even when the cards are firmly in your corner.
Only for a brief moment, halfway through, when Rahmbo got a hand in there and briefly tied the world no 1, did we (brielfy) think that Scottie would not have a cake-walk. But the back 9 was exactly that.
An execution of precision, against contenders who were much less so. Whatever gap he showed with a bogey on 9, he quickly closed that loop with a birdie on 10 and we were back to normal services. Going through the last 5 holes was a relative breeze and so the Wanamaker was his.
Many tried to scare him, but kept falling short. The Bulk just left everything short, unable to “turn the screw” at any time. Rahmbo knew he needed birdies before the green mile, but they would not come. The others were merely diversions or noise as they really had little chance on the grandest occasion.
Scottie vaults up into 3 major category, 2 majors short of the career grand slam, which is suddenly a possibility for him in 2025! That would be some story. Scottie has 15 total individual PGA Tour wins since his 1st (2022 WM Phoenix Open), thats the same as those of Rory, X, Collin & JT combined (who are the OWGR’s Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 players).
At the end, Scottie showed that Rory emotion, showing that although he is ICE COOL, he is soft inside, feels the stress that we feel everyday, but shows no weakness, shows no fear and is able to get it done. Over and over again.
Round of the Day
A sensational low round of the day came from Harris English, a 65 to put into the clubhouse for the entire day until a certain Scottie arrived.
Harris was never in it with a chance to win, but rallied on the back 9 for a 31 and a brief moment in the sun.
Shot of the Day
There were eagles galore on Sunday, including a little tap-in by Gerard, who has come from nowhere for his 1st top 10 in a major.
Performance of the Day
Rahmbo briefly shook the field and it was nearly his day, despite losing by 7 in the end.
Scottie winning by 6 can only leave you in awe and only really 1 performance that really mattered.
The Leaders
The top 15s managed to lock their tickets into next year’s PGA Champs which for Davis, Pendy, Vegas, Jaqo, Gerard & Highsmith is gold, whilst the others already have exemptions via various categories or would be more likely to get so later in the year.

Final Day Sunday was filled with drama.
There were some good scores for the punters and plenty of scores under par on the LEADERBOARD.
Gunslingers brought it home in the end, but only just. it was a nervy finish, with the lead getting very small, after it was over 10 shots early on Sunday!
Puttiater, charged from way back, in the end settling for 2nd, off the back of a Conners famed Sunday top 10.
Loose Balls & PokeyAU2 closed out the top 4 in the winnings.
It was an exciting weekend at Quail Hollow and ultimately a worthy winner came to the fore.

Lots of big numbers littered the bottomboard. Plenty of MCs ain’t going to help anyone.
tristan Kempenaar stuck to the bottom, just pipping Fitzmagic2 by 1 shot for the wooden spoon.
We are looking forward to the next major, the US Open at Oakmont where Lefty will have another chance to finally nail the Grand Slam, though that seems a stretch at best.
The Bulk will be defending and the last major winner at Oakmont was DJ in 2016, for his 1st major, which seems a lifetime ago.
