Final Day Sunday at the 2020 Masters

Sunday at The Masters A superb Sunday of golf that had a bit of everything, except an ace and change in the lead. Eagles, birdies, bogeys, doubles and a 10! But at the end of the day, there could be only 1 winner and on a record-breaking 20 under, DJ reigned supreme. There were a few records broken at this November Masters. Cam Smith became the first player to post 4 scores in the 60s at Augusta, Tiger made his highest single hole score on the short 12th hole and 2nd place at 15 under is the highest non-winning score ever posted (Smith and Sungjae Im). Tiger DJ started off the final day with a few nerves about - he fluffed a chip into the bunker on 2 before salvaging a par, then made bogeys on 4 and 5 and suddenly his lead was only 2. Just when it thought it might go south like all the others, he hit a towering iron into 6 and made the putt for a superb 2. A 2-club worth all the money in the world. Onto the back 9 and Amen Corner and while others faltered, DJ was comfortable laying up on both par 5s, but still made birdies. By the time he tapped in on 18, he had carded a round of the day 68 for a 5 shot win. A worthy champion. The win is his 2nd major win and first green jacket, capping off an incredible run of 5 straight 10s at Augusta including last year’s T2 and this year’s win. It also caps off an incredible 2020 - 4 wins since the re-start, rightfully placed at the top of the world rankings. This well and truly buries the story about world # 1’s not faring well at Augusta - which included his bizarre tumble down the stairs in 2017. DJ Such was his dominance that on the back 9, other players were playing for 2nd . Rors flirted with a top 3, JT threw in an eagle dart on 15, but Im and Smith held onto 2nd with poise and incredible up and downs on 15. Leaderboard The top 10 included the best in world - numbers 1 to 3 and 5, all found themselves solidly in the top 10. So too was BK, who has returned to form and fitness. Additionally there were first top 10s for Fritelli and Corey Conners, who managed a T10 despite not featuring on any broadcast.
