Moving Day at The Masters
The Best Saturday at The Masters for a number of years. It was amazing to be witness to such heriocs. Rory delivered a historic performance, seizing the solo lead at 12 under, which includes 2 eagles.
Rory began his round with an unprecedented sequence of six consecutive scores of three, including three birdies and an eagle within the first five holes . Despite bogeys on holes 8 and 10, McIlroy regained momentum with a birdie on 13 and a second eagle on the 15th, finishing with a 66 for the day.
BDC remains the closest competitor, two strokes behind at 10 under. The BDC round was marked by solid play, culminating in a remarkable 50 foot birdie on the the 18th hole to secure his position in the final pairing.
JRose, the leader after the first two rounds, struggled on Saturday, shooting a 75 to fall to a tie for sixth at 5-under-par. Defending champion Scottie also faced challenges, carding a 72 to join Rose in the tie for sixth .
As the tournament heads into the final round, Rory stands on the cusp of completing the career Grand Slam, a feat achieved by only five golfers in history. With BDC close behind and several contenders within striking distance, the stage is set for an exciting conclusion at Augusta National.
There are some brilliant potentials heading into Final Day Sunday, though only 1 really matters:
Rory: grand slam, enough said
BDCn: a 3rd major win and a 1st win in Greeze
Conners: first major win
Round of the Day
By the close of Saturday, Moving Day, players had gone backwards more than forwards. 2 rounds of 66, one early and one very late.
Rory going out late was sensational to swing into the lead for the green jacket.
Shot of the Day
There have been continual references to the 2nd shot of Rory on 15 which led to his 2nd eagle of the day, but he had made a chip-in on the 2nd hole too.
Performance of the Day
Zach came from a long way back, matching the best round of the day. His efforts beat the next best by 3 shots.
