Moving Day at The Open
Check out the majorpunter score's at The Open.
The feared weather never came in, instead golfers were greeted with long stretches of sunshine and a soft breeze and it showed in the scoring. Anyone over par went backwards with the top 20 showing a penchant for a 68 it seemed.
Scottie laced up and stared his opponents down. A masterclass of a 67, with a few holed putts like before, saw his posting a bogey-free round and a 4 shot lead. He never once looked out of sorts or stressed, an artist or an engineer or both simultaneously.
The chasers pushed hard all day, each having moments where the wind was at their back, each making long putts of their own, but were unable to get to the week’s best of 64 or lower, which they need to change the narrative.
Fitzy got closest but a mix of poor putts and driving left him 5 back. Haotong tried hard, but almost seems contempt in 2nd as he chases his best major finish.
There are a stack of big names at 8 under, but that’s 6 shots back, so surely that’s too far even for Rory, The MadHatter & Mr English. This seems a foregone conclusion and probably looked the same on Friday evening.
Rory charged early on Saturday with 3 birdies in 4 holes and looked imperious. In truth a 63 looked within reach, until a strong run of pars and nothing threatening any flags until that eagle on 12! It was a day filled with thrills and chaos, plus a lift home with his dad.
Still there are some brilliant potentials heading into Final Day Sunday:
Scottie: 1st Open win, 2nd this year & 4th major win
Haotong, Mr English, MadHatter: 1st major win for each of them
Fitzy: 2nd major, taking both Opens a few years apart
Rory: 6th major win, 2nd this year
Round of the Day
There were lots of red numbers, with Henley coming good on promise with a 65 including an eagle on 12 and only a lone bogey to mess it up.
Shot of the Day
Its finally time, a HOLE-in-ONE on the 13th for Parry who showed a great smile and celebration on his way to a 67, after making the cut on the number.
A little later, Rory also did the extraordinary with a TRICK shot of his own.
Performance of the Day
Westie stunned the crowd with a record breaking back 9 of 29, after he had gone out with a 40 to start his Saturday and a hopeful charge, all while his wife Helen carried his bag.

The good scores continued for punters, climbing the board late in the day. A late flurry of birdies especially from the leader, has vaulted the teams on the LEADERBOARD.
Fitzmagic has been right from the get-go and goes into Sunday with a commanding 3 stroke lead, followed by 2 teams 9th green at 9 & Down the middle who have also been in the mix from day 1.
Looking at the teams, its going to come down to Scottie & Tommylad for on the day heroics, plus perhaps Bhatia & Mr English to see who walk away as champion!
Lots to play for, 18 holes is plenty of time to make that move.
